Packaging manufacturer Coveris is presenting its sandwich box from the Recyclapeel protective gas packaging range exclusively at FachPack. The new development is designed to help reduce food waste and increase recyclability in the European food-to-go and convenience product sector.
Coveris has combined a new sustainable packaging development with a modified design for modified atmospheres. The Recyclapeel modified atmosphere packaging is now being launched specifically on the European market with its growing demand for increased shelf life.
This further development of the peelable and separable Recyclapeel sandwich box from Coveris Made from fully recyclable cardboard with PE coating Enables gas-tight protective packaging thanks to coated corners. If the packaging is carried out together with a fumigation process, the stable seal ensures a safe packaging atmosphere throughout the entire product life cycle. This extends the shelf life of a sandwich well beyond the four days normally guaranteed with the foiled cardboard boxes from Coveris used in the UK.
Recyclapeel recyclable in waste paper
Sandwich boxes made from Recyclapeel protective gas packaging have a peelable membrane, which enables consumers to separate them. This makes it easier to recycle the cardboard made from sustainable raw materials as well as the PE components. Due to the reduced adhesion, Recyclapeel protective gas packaging can be recycled in paper recycling plants This is because the PE coating dissolves during the process, enabling optimum recycling of the cardboard.
The newb inert gas packaging is Printable with up to nine colours, The new, attractive design offers excellent product visibility on the shelf and is also available in an anti-fog version.
„FachPack is the perfect opportunity to present our sandwich box made from Recyclapeel protective gas packaging. With regard to the European market for food-to-go products, our sandwich box meets the demand for products with a longer shelf life. It is a fully recyclable, forward-looking packaging solution for the future of the food-to-go industry in Europe.“ Will Mercer, Director of Graphics, Label & Board R&D at Coveris
