New top management at Yaskawa Electric

Marcus Mead was appointed Executive Officer Regional Manager Europe, Chairman & President of Yaskawa Europe GmbH on 1 March.

Yaskawa Electric Corporation has made a change at the top of Yaskawa EMEA. Marcus Mead has been appointed Executive Officer Regional Manager Europe, Chairman & President of Yaskawa Europe GmbH with effect from 1 March.

Marcus Mead (53) takes over the position of Regional Executive Officer Regional Manager at the Yaskawa Europe GmbH. The British manager joined Yaskawa as Vice President of Operations in 2018 after a career in aerospace engineering at the British Aerospace (Commercial Aircraft) Airbus Division, in the automotive industry at Magna International and in automation technology at Parker Hannifin. Since September 2018, he has headed the European Robotics Division in Allershausen near Munich. Since March 2023, Mead has also held the position of President EMEA at the headquarters in Hattersheim near Frankfurt.

Throughout his tenure, Mead has actively driven Yaskawa's development in Europe, particularly in the field of robotics. Among the notable successes he achieved during this time were the Accelerated strengthening of the regional subsidiaries, which ensured increased availability of Yaskawa's broad product portfolio and the development of regional production in the robotics and systems sector.

In 2019, Yaskawa opened its first European robotics plant in Kočevje (Slovenia), which today covers almost 80 per cent of European demand for Motoman robots; in 2023, Yaskawa expanded its robotics system construction and assembly capacities in Allershausen with a Expansion by an area of 10,000 m2 significantly. The aim is to become the European market leader in this area.

Bruno J. Schnekenburger is now retiring and can look back on a successful ten years at Yaskawa, as Marcus Mead emphasises: „Bruno J. Schnekenburger has shaped Yaskawa's successful path in the EMEA market and we are eternally grateful to him for this.“ Schnekenburger has held positions of responsibility at Yaskawa since 2014, first as President of the European Robotics Division, then as Chief Operating Officer and since 2018 as President & Regional Head. Since 2020, he has also been Senior Executive Officer of the Japanese parent company Yaskawa Electric Corporation.
