Newly developed module for the 10th anniversary

The highly flexible VarioSys production system has been on the market for ten years: it enables a special isolator to be individually equipped with production modules such as filling or capping machines and these can also be combined to form production chains.

Just in time for the anniversary, a new module has now been launched on the market that once again sets new standards in terms of flexibility: Like its predecessor, it can process both syringes and cartridges from the nest - but with 100 per cent in-process control (IPC) without any loss of performance. A completely newly developed through-feed system is responsible for this.

The starting point for the development of VarioSys ten years ago was the company Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma, which was looking for flexible production solutions for its US site in Fremont, California. Different dosage forms such as pre-filled syringes, cartridges and vials with various filling volumes were to be produced in one isolator without having to install a separate filling and capping machine with separate isolators for each application system, as was previously the case. The system was developed with Bausch+Ströbel and the isolator manufacturer Skan and is already used in many pharmaceutical companies. successfully in use all over the world.

VarioSys has been continuously expanded and further developed. The new SFM 5205 module fills and closes RTU objects (syringes and cartridges) without having to change the module. The connected VarioSys module DDM is responsible for de- and renesting. It will be presented to a wider public for the first time at Achema. The SFM also offers flexibility in the area of dosing: a wide variety of dosing systems can be selected, such as peristaltic pumps, rotary lobe pumps or a time-pressure dosing system. The proven multi-dosing system is also possible. And the performance is also impressive: Up to 4,500 objects per hour are applied.
