400 million euros were channelled into the largest investment in the company's history.
The Norwegian paper and packaging group Norske Skog started production of recycled containerboard at its Golbey plant in France in May. The investment sum of around 400 million euros makes the project the largest single investment in the company's history, according to reports.
The new machine will increase the Group's containerboard capacity by 550,000 tonnes per year to a total of 760,000 tonnes - a strategic expansion in view of the growing demand for sustainable packaging paper.
- First customer deliveries to begin in Q2 2025
- Capacity utilisation to reach 50-60 % by the end of 2025
- Full capacity utilisation of 95 % expected in the first half of 2027
The new line will only process waste paper and will supplement the existing Newsprint production of 330,000 tonnes. This will make Golbey one of the largest and most modern production sites for paper and packaging in Europe.
