More and more companies are signing up to use the Nutri-Score. Cereal Partners Deutschland (CPD) is now introducing the nutritional labelling on all cereal bars.

More and more companies are registering to use the Nutri-Score. Now Cereal Partners Deutschland (CPD), a joint venture between Nestlé and General Mills, is introducing the nutritional labelling on all cereal bars.

From March, the Nestlé Nesquik bars with a Nutri-Score C will be available in stores. The Lion, Cini-Minis and Golden Minis cereal bars will follow in the course of the year - all with a rating of C.

We were one of the first companies in Germany to CPD the Introduction of the label on packaging advanced: Since spring 2020, traditional Nesquik brand cereals have been labelled with the nutrition label.

Pioneering role in the introduction of Nutri-Score

Last year, CPD labelled all traditional cereals from its product portfolio with the Nutri-Score labelled. Until the End of the year 2021 all breakfast products will be converted to the new nutritional labelling.

Over 100 companies already registered

Since the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture introduced the Nutri-Score in November 2020, the Nutri-Score in Germany has already 116 German companies with 236 brands registered for the use of this nutritional label. These include manufacturers and retailers of all sizes and from all sectors. This was announced by the BMELV now with.

European basic agreement on nutrition labelling adopted

In order to Europe-wide use of extended nutrition labelling In order to simplify the Nutri-Score process, the European countries involved or interested in the Nutri-Score have also concluded an agreement in principle.

They have thus agreed on joint coordination. The aim is to facilitate the introduction of nutrition labelling for Member States and companies.

In addition to a steering committee, the collaboration also includes a Joint scientific committee, which scientifically evaluates possible further developments of the Nutri-Score algorithm. Germany will be represented here in future by an expert from the Max Rubner Institute (MRI).

Julia Klöckner: „Our agreement is an important step towards more clarity on packaging and strengthens healthy eating across national borders. It is good and right that independent scientists are consulting internationally on possible adjustments to the algorithm. This will ensure that it is adapted to the latest scientific findings.“
