Norma is now replacing the plastic packaging of its organic herbs with paper packaging, thereby saving more than four tonnes of plastic.
Chives, parsley, basil and other fresh herbs from Norma's own brand Organic sun will come in a new outfit in future, thus conserving resources. The food retailer is wrapping the pots with immediate effect in unbleached wet-strength paper and thus saves 5.5 grams of plastic per item. What doesn't sound like much at first, adds up to more than four tonnes.

The paper used is FSC-certified and comes from sustainable forestry. The packaging is labelled with water-based colour This means that there is no risk of solvent contamination when processing the waste product.
The Nuremberg Food discounter has been committed to the targeted reduction of plastic waste for years. To this end, the packaging of numerous products has already been revised and replaced with more resource-efficient alternatives replaced. In cases where plastic cannot be dispensed with for reasons of hygiene, for example, the company reduces the packaging thickness - in close consultation with partners and manufacturers - in order to save at least a few grams.
