Südpack presents the Multipeel as the leading reclosure system for cheese and sausage products. The packaging solution impresses with its high material efficiency and sustainability, as it keeps food fresh for longer and thus contributes to reducing food waste.

South pack has developed the Multipeel, a packaging solution that keeps cheese and sausage products fresh for longer after opening thanks to its integrated resealing function. According to the company, the Reclosure prevents premature drying out, This improves both the shelf life and the appearance of the food. According to Valeska Haux, Vice President Strategic Marketing & Sustainability at Südpack, the Multipeel is particularly superior to alternative systems such as snap-on lids or adhesive strips due to its material efficiency.

Multipeel packaging is characterised by easy handling and low CO2-footprint. The reduction in food waste from cheese means that the Environmental impact further reduced, as the product stays fresh for longer and does not have to be disposed of prematurely. According to Haux, this contributes to a more positive environmental footprint, especially for products with a high CO2-footprint like cheese.

The Multipeel film portfolio offers both conventional and recyclable structures designed for different products and requirements. In combination with suitable base films from the Südpack range, they enable safe and efficient packaging solutions. A polypropylene-based packaging concept from Südapck with a resealable top film has been certified by cyclos-HTP with a recyclability of over 90 per cent. Haux emphasises that the company has been focussing on recycling for almost 20 years. resealable films and specialises in sustainable concepts developed.

Südpack expects demand for reclosure systems to remain high in the coming years, as the focus on reducing food waste will continue to increase. „The sharp rise in food prices and legal requirements will reinforce this trend,“ says Haux.
