Things are moving at „Optima“: the manufacturer of packaging machines from Schwäbisch Hall is expanding its premises with a newly built logistics centre. This will house the new „Optima materials management GmbH“ from 2018. Christoph Held has been the new Managing Director of Optima Consumer GmbH since September.
The Packaging machine manufacturer Optima from Schwäbisch Hall is getting ready for 2022, which involves a major construction programme. Last year, the company renovated several office buildings and expanded its premises. Now the go-ahead has been given for the construction of a new logistics centre. In the Solpark in Schwäbisch Hall, the previously differently organised departments of the Materials management are not only combined in terms of location. At the turn of the year, they will be combined in the form of an independent company under the management of Heiko Funk. Funk will then act as Managing Director of the new „Optima materials management GmbH“.
The Managing Director of the new materials management company, drove the construction projects forward together with the Head of Optima Facility Management, Matthias Dietz. The logistics centre will cover an area of 6,000 square metres and provide space for 3,000 Pallet bays and an automatic Small parts warehouse for around 60,000 articles.
Behind the entire construction programme was the idea of Process optimisation. Central purchasing, quality management, quality assurance, customs, dispatch and spare parts service as well as a service workshop are ideally networked in the new building. Nevertheless, the new materials management centre will be larger because space reserves have already been planned for future developments.
Hans Bühler, Managing Partner of Optima, emphasises: „The new construction of an innovative logistics centre with an investment volume in the double-digit million range is a renewed commitment to the location.“

Christoph Hübner new Managing Director of Optima Consumer GmbH
A further change at Optima took place in September: Christoph Held has since become Managing Director of „Optima Consumer GmbH“. He succeeds Rainer Feuchter, who has retired from the operational side of the business and will support the company in an advisory capacity from now on. The 46-year-old Christoph Held is a graduate engineer in the field of mechanical engineering/design and can look back on many years of experience in well-known companies in the packaging machinery industry. He will manage Optima Consumer GmbH together with Ralf Hübner (Global Sales Manager) and Service Manager Michael Weber.
