Flexible packaging papers replace metallised bags

Tea producer Madura Tea, together with the Gundlach Packaging Group, is switching all its flexible packaging materials to paper from Koehler Paper. High strength properties enable easy further processing on standard packaging systems.

Australia's leading tea manufacturer Madura Tea has switched all its packaging materials, which were previously based on metallised OPP (Oriented Polypropylene), to a flexible packaging paper. Together with the Gundlach Packaging Group and Koehler Paper, Madura Tea has developed the Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure MOB 72 gsm the ideal packaging paper with a mineral oil barrier and protection against MOSH/MOAH for its products. After several promising tests, the products are now available on the Australian market.

The Gundlach Packaging Group and Koehler Paper provided Madura Tea with various test materials from the NexFlex product range.

With NexPlus Seal Pure MOB, Koehler Paper offers a packaging paper which, compared to conventional plastic packaging, is dCO2 footprint significantly reduced and has the significant advantage of being 100 per cent recyclable.

Sustainable paper solutions with NexFlex

With the NexFlex product range, the research and development team at Koehler Innovation & Technology, together with the experts at Koehler Paper, has developed a 100 per cent recyclable generation of flexible packaging papers. The aim is to, replace plastic in packaging - where possible - by using so-called barrier papers. The range covers a broad spectrum: this includes standard products in the field of coated and uncoated papers, which are used in composite materials for bags, sachets and other applications and are therefore suitable for a variety of packaging for food and non-food products.

Sustainable barrier papers are the next generation of papers for flexible packaging with their functional surfaces for product-specific protection (Koehler NexPlus). The NexFlex product family also includes one-side coated papers with good dimensional stability and high smoothness (Koehler NexCoat) and uncoated papers with a natural appearance (Koehler NexPure). Various flexible packaging papers from Koehler Paper have been with 19 out of 20 possible points from the environmental service provider Interseroh with the „Made for Recycling“ seal“ excellent.
