Panther Group joins initiative to reduce emissions

Corrugated cardboard manufacturer Panther Packaging joins the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The initiative brings together companies that want to halve their emissions by 2030 and reduce them to net zero by 2050 in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement.

Corrugated cardboard manufacturer Panther Packaging joins the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The initiative brings together companies that want to halve their emissions by 2030 and reduce them to net zero by 2050 in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement.

The commitment made by the Group, and thus the achievement of the defined targets, is proof of the commitment to sustainability within the Group. The SBTi, supported by the CDP/Carbon Discloser Project, the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute/WIR and the WWF, helps companies to set emission reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. It defines and promotes best practice in science-based goal setting, provides resources and guidance to remove barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves organisations' goals.

With a long-term orientation, the Panther Group According to its own statements, the company has always endeavoured to, contribute to the protection and preservation of the environment (soil, air and water) and specifically reduce our own CO2-minimise our carbon footprint. This includes the impact of the products on CO2-emissions along the entire value chain, from raw material production to corrugated cardboard production and processing through to delivery to customers. Along this chain, the Panther Group strives to reduce and substitute emission-intensive drivers.

Taking into account the respective circumstances of individual locations, measures have been defined with targets up to the year 2050. This includes the fact that the entire Panther Group has been using CO2-neutral electricity. Current comparative figures show that the Panther Group has always succeeded in reducing emissions. This is the success of a wide range of measures, from the commissioning of state-of-the-art machines, optimised logistics and the conscious use of energy and materials.
