Papacks and the chemical company Solenis have expanded their strategic collaboration in the field of industrial hemp. The aim is to make the raw material industrially usable and reproducible as a basis for sustainable packaging solutions.

The cooperation focuses on the cultivation and processing of industrial hemp and the development of standardised processes for use in moulded fibre packaging. According to the companies, the aim is to improve the reproducibility of raw material quality and raise industrial processing to a new level.

„With Solenis, we have an experienced partner at our side who not only shares our goal of a plastic-free packaging world, but is actively involved in shaping it,“ explained Tahsin Dag, founder and CEO of Papacks. Amy Sand, Global Director Food Packaging at Solenis, added: „The challenge lies not only in innovation, but also in standardisation and optimisation. This is exactly where we come in with Papacks.“

Industrial capacities and market focus

Papacks refers to over 5,000 hectares of hemp cultivation areas in Ukraine and a production capacity of more than one billion packaging units per year. According to Solenis, it will contribute its expertise in additive chemistry and process optimisation. Together, the aim is to create a scalable, recyclable system for packaging solutions that does not require fossil raw materials or wood.
