FreeForm Packaging has launched a new, stretchable paper laminate based on 85 per cent paper. It consists of two layers of FibreForm and a thin polyethylene layer.

The new laminate with the designation Standard Paper Out the conventional polythene layer on the outside has been replaced by paper. This gives the FreeFormPack a natural, warm feel.

FreeForm Packaging claims to produce and sell the world's first truly mouldable paper packaging solution together with the machines that produce the FreeFormPack. The solution is based on stretchable and printable paper-based laminates that can be moulding, twisting and embossing leave.

So far FreeForm Packaging only offer laminates with polyethylene on both sides to ensure good sealing properties, but this has now changed. A new process makes it possible to Seal packaging over the entire surface and mould as required. The new laminate still offers good WVTR (Water Vapour Transmission Rate) values, although it is less effective than a double-sided laminate.
