Recyclable paper security seals

Securikett is the first company to produce security seals made of paper with a colour envelope, which can be disposed of together with cardboard packaging and are said to be superior to plastic seals.

Securikett is the first company to produce security seals made of paper with a colour envelope, which can be disposed of together with cardboard packaging and are said to be superior to plastic seals.

The more standardised all the materials used in product packaging are, the better recycling processes work. If packaging and labelling are made from the same packaging material, the quality of the raw material obtained in the recycling process is positively influenced. Paper packaging that is sealed with paper security seals, can therefore be better integrated into the recycling process than paper packaging with plastic labels.

„By using the latest paper-based security seals and sealing tapes, industries can not only package their products in a more tamper-proof way, but also make a sustainable contribution to environmental protection and avoid plastic.“ Werner Horn, CEO of the company Securikett

Securikett, a company based in Austria that specialises in digital and physical security concepts in the product sector, has now developed a new security seal in paper form. The company has been a supplier of transparent, opaque and opaque security seals for many years. „The special thing about these seals is that when the seal is opened or peeled off, previously unrecognisable lettering such as „Void“ or „Open“ becomes visible through a colour change. Our void labels transform all types of packaging into safes“, Werner Horn explains the mode of action. „We are delighted that we can now offer this special void technology solution on a paper basis.“ The cellulose material used by Securikett can be recycled together with folding cartons and complies with the general EU Circular Economy Package.

Paper security seals just as secure as plastic seals

The research department of the company Securikett has long been dedicated to the goal of being able to produce paper-based security seals in addition to the plastic-based ones that have been produced to date, without compromising the safety level to be authorised. The task included both opaque and transparent security seals, in which the special security void effect is indicated by the seal peeling off.

„Thanks to technical innovations, we have succeeded in creating a seal from the renewable and recyclable raw material paper that is superior to plastic seals in many respects. PaperVOID deforms when peeled off and is particularly resistant to manipulation with water and liquids.“ Vanessa Mitterer, Msc. Head of the Research Department
