Following the EU's ban on disposable drinking straws, everyone is switching to paper. A solution from SIG now also makes the paper straw bendable. Berglandmilch is the first Austrian company to use it for its products.
The switch to paper straws at the Berglandmilch plant in Aschbach, Austria, which supplies the Austrian market with several million drink packs, already took place in May. This means that Berglandmilch already fulfils the requirements of the EU Commission, according to which disposable plastic utensils such as drinking straws, cutlery and coffee cups may no longer be placed on the market from July.
The paper drinking straws are available in white and therefore do not require the use of colourants. The pulp from which they are made is FSC-certified. The outer packaging of the straws has also been designed so that it sticks to the pack and can be disposed of together with the cardboard packaging.
