
The Coveris Group, which specialises in flexible packaging made of plastic and paper, has won an award for its PaperBarrier Seal product in the Swiss Emmi Group's Fair Inno-Pack competition.
With PaperBarrier Seal, Coveris has developed a fully recyclable paper-based packaging that - comparable to conventional plastic packaging - offers a has a high barrier function against moisture, oxygen, fats and mineral oils. PaperBarrier Seal is also food-safe and can therefore be used for food and hygiene products. The packaging is simply disposed of via the waste paper collection. This utilises existing and very well-functioning recycling streams and promotes the circular economy.
The Emmi Group, a leading manufacturer of dairy products, has launched the Fair Inno Pack competition, to promote and advance innovative ideas for sustainable packaging solutions. Emmi is actively involved in various Swiss organisations that promote the circular economy, such as Drehscheibe Kreislaufwirtschaft and Prisma, of which Emmi is a founding member. With the Fair Inno Pack competition, Emmi wants to raise awareness of a sustainable circular economy and promote the circular economy. intensify cooperation with leading packaging companies such as Coveris.
Out of a total of 80 packaging concepts submitted, 32 entries from 38 different suppliers made it through to the second round. In the end, the expert jury convened by Emmi honoured the PaperBarrier Seal concept from Coveris together with seven other product solutions.
