Sacmi Packaging & Chocolate and Keba have been working together since 2020 to set new standards in packaging automation with an open robot platform. The cooperation enables flexible and efficient packaging solutions that respond to the requirements of modern markets.
The close co-operation between Sacmi Packaging & Chocolate, a company of the Sacmi Group, and Keba began in 2020 with the integration of the Keba robot platform into Sacmi's production facilities. This platform offers a Open and flexible solution for high-speed pick & place processes, which significantly increases the efficiency and performance of packaging systems.
„The Keba solution is the only one on the market that allows us to use industrial robot kinematics at such a high performance level.“
Enrico Vivaldo, senior engineer in the research and development department at Sacmi Packaging & Chocolate

This openness enables the user to, different robot kinematics to choose from, which leads to greater efficiency in planning and construction. This has contributed to the fact that Sacmi has already several production lines equipped with the new robot solution which is suitable for both small and large robot systems.
Increase in production output
Thanks to the Keba robot platform, Sacmi's production lines were able to increase their Increase performance by 10 to 15 per cent. This improvement results from the precise and smooth kinematics of the robots, which enable a higher number of picks per hour. The solution not only proves its worth in smaller systems, but also in larger ones where more than 30 robots work in one system.

Sacmi Packaging & Chocolate sees the platform as a solution for the growing demands of the packaging market. According to Vivaldo, it is crucial that Supports different types of kinematics and robot manufacturers to meet the challenges of high-end customers. Keba makes it possible to create multi-robot environments that can be simulated without interrupting production. This not only improves the planning process, but also pre-sales, as the performance of the systems can be predicted before they are realised.
Sacmi and Keba are planning to Further expanding the partnership, especially in the area of secondary packaging. A particular focus here is on the Sustainability of the machines, both in terms of energy savings and the environmental friendliness of the materials used. Vivaldo describes Keba as a reliable partner with great internal expertise and sees great potential for future projects.
