In a joint project, Greiner Packaging and Constantia Flexibles have developed a certified home-compostable coffee capsule. The compostability of the capsule has been confirmed by TÜV Austria and the packaging is designed to reduce waste.
Greiner Packaging and Constantia Flexibles have jointly developed an innovative, Fully home compostable coffee capsule solution developed. In this partnership, Greiner Packaging provides the capsule and Constantia Flexibles the lid, EcoPressoLid. The project marks an important step forward for the companies and offers coffee brands a new opportunity to combine the benefits of coffee capsules with sustainability.
The capsule body preserves the freshness of the coffee and is compatible with conventional coffee capsule machines. This solution offers consumers a more sustainable option without compromising on quality or convenience and supports a circular economy by Waste reduced and environmental impact minimised.

Constantia Flexibles‘ EcoPressoLid capsule closure has several features. It offers a High barrier against oxygen, The coffee maker is equipped with a high sealing rate, one for compostable coffee capsules and exceptional coffee preparation performance. It is also Compatible with standard capsule filling and sealing machines on the market. The paper-based EcoPressoLid can seal both the upper and lower part of the capsules. Together with the capsule body, the system has received the „OK Compost Home“ certification from TÜV Austria.
