Since 1 October 2025, the Pawi production site in Winterthur has also been producing its own solar power. With the commissioning of the new photovoltaic system, the company says it has taken another important step towards increasing its energy autonomy and implementing its sustainability strategy.

After a seven-month construction phase, during which the three large roof areas of the production and storage halls were completely renovated, sealed and newly insulated, over 1,200 solar modules with a total area of around 2,500 square metres now feed electricity directly into the factory grid. Four high-performance inverters convert the solar energy into usable electricity and ensure a stable supply, according to the company.

Joint project under challenging conditions

The realisation took place during ongoing operations and required close coordination between all parties involved. Despite adverse weather conditions and tight deadlines, the project was completed on schedule, according to the Swiss company. In addition to generating energy, the refurbishment improves the insulation of the buildings, increases work safety on the roofs and provides more daylight in the production halls thanks to the renewed skylights.
