PepsiCo already 100 days earlier in rPET bottles

A year ago, PepsiCo announced that it would be the first beverage company in Germany to use 100 per cent recycled plastic (rPET) in all of its carbonated beverage bottles by the end of 2021. This target has now been achieved 100 days earlier. 

A year ago, PepsiCo announced that it would be the first beverage company in Germany to use 100 per cent recycled plastic (rPET) in all of its carbonated beverage bottles by the end of 2021. This target has now been achieved 100 days earlier. 

Just a few days ago, PepsiCo presented its new sustainability strategy. In it, the company commits to eliminating 50% plastic from all packaging worldwide by 2030. In Germany, the company is taking a decisive step forward.

PepsiCo wants to halve the use of plastic in packaging

The original plan was to switch to 100 per cent rPET in Germany by the end of 2021. PepsiCo has now exceeded its own schedule: All PepsiCo Carbonated Soft Drink (CSD) beverage brands, including Pepsi, Pepsi MAX and SchwipSchwap, have converted to 100 per cent rPET 100 days faster. This also applies to all company-owned and franchise operations. This makes Germany the first country in the world where PepsiCo has switched completely to rPET.

Competitor Coca Cola recently announced that in Germany, it will for the time being switches to recycled PET for the small 100% beverage bottles.
