With the Flake Scan analysis system from Sesotec, the quality of plastic flakes and regrind can be determined efficiently and precisely in just a few minutes.
For manufacturers and processors of plastic flakes and regrinds, the guarantee of high material quality is an important factor. It is crucial for the profitable sale and use of recycled plastic. Depending on the intended use of the recyclate, a corresponding analysis is carried out. However, the quality of material batches also often has to be assessed using complex manual, visual or thermal random sample analyses to evaluate the recycling sorting process. This causes additional effort and high costs. In addition, the representativeness of the random samples is low.
Precise analysis using flake scan
In order to reduce the effort required for different analysis methods, Sesotec has developed the Flake Scan analysis system developed. With this device, the quality of plastic flakes and regrind can be determined efficiently and precisely in just a few minutes. The analysis system provides the data basis for a quick decision on whether plastic flakes and regrind can be processed and used profitably. It also allows conclusions to be drawn as to whether the entire recycling process and individual system components are functioning smoothly.
Up to three sensors - colour sensor, NIR sensor, metal sensor - examine precise material samples. The automatic and reproducible analysis takes into account incorrect colours, plastic types and metal contaminants. The composition of plastic flake batches is determined within a few minutes. For representative results, a sample volume of up to eight litres can be processed. The maximum throughput is 20 kilograms per hour. The report output and archiving of the analysis results take place automatically. The Flake Scan is also very easy to operate using a touchscreen.
