Sappi Europe was awarded platinum in the latest EcoVadis rating. Its CSR performance makes it one of the world's leading companies.
The prize was awarded to companies that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are more active and responsible than average. Sappi was able to maintain its leading position from the previous year among the top one per cent of all companies assessed. The company specialises in Sustainable wood fibre products and solutions and was able to establish itself as one of the top performers with a score well above the overall average. The EcoVadis rating covers a total of 21 criteria. These are in turn divided into four overarching subject areas: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.
Clear focus for more sustainability
Sustainable management across the entire value chain is an integral part of Sappi's corporate strategy. All business activities and investments in research and development are based on renewable materials. As a result, the global company's environmental management encompasses a variety of strategies aimed at improving its environmental footprint. Sappi has defined its sustainability targets for 2025 with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With an increased focus on seven of the SDGs, the company aims to make a significant contribution to the global agenda for sustainable development.
Platinum in this year's rating
According to the company, the platinum award from EcoVadis demonstrates Sappi's active commitment to sustainability. This is because Sappi focuses on providing product solutions to the market. Just a few weeks ago, the company was awarded Functional Paper Packaging with the campaign Pro Planet Paper Packaging - welcome to the new pack-age The company presented numerous solutions for packaging food and non-food products in sustainable, high-quality paper.
