The Pöppelmann Group has put its new Hall 43 into operation in Brockdorf, Lower Saxony. The highly automated production facility for the Kapsto division sets standards in terms of technology, digitalisation and sustainability.

After around two years of construction, the Pöppelmann Group officially opened one of the most modern production facilities in the plastics industry in Europe in June 2025. The Kapsto division and the company's small parts production will be located in the new Hall 43 at the Lohne-Brockdorf site. The new production unit with a floor area of around 16,500 square metres is fully digitally networked and is characterised by a high degree of automation - from material supply to production and further processing through to logistics, according to the statement.

The ceremonial opening of the new hall was celebrated together by the project participants and employees. Vincent Otto, representative of the owner family and grandson of company founder Josef Pöppelmann, emphasised the commitment to Germany as a business location: „In times when many industrial companies are turning their backs on Germany and building new plants abroad, we have made a clear commitment to Lohne as a production location with this plant.“

Focus on sustainability

The new production hall was planned in accordance with the criteria of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and is to be certified with the highest award level „Platinum“. This highest level has already been achieved in the pre-certificate. The assessment includes the 2000 kWp photovoltaic system on the roof and south façade, a green roof covering 10,500 square metres and a 650 cubic metre rainwater storage tank. The use of sustainable building materials also contributed to the assessment.

New standard for efficiency and customer service

According to Thorsten Koldehoff, Global Sales Manager Kapsto, the new hall combines all company processes under one roof for the first time. The company aims to set new standards in terms of flexibility, speed and service. According to the company, the new building will not only create additional capacity, but also contribute to achieving climate targets through energy-efficient processes.
