Extrusion film specialist Polifilm Extrusion acquires Saxa Packaging GmbH, thereby strengthening its Packaging & Performance Films division.

With the takeover, the company, which is headquartered in Saxony-anhalt-based Weißandt-Gölzau is not only expanding its capacities. With Saxa Packaging, the company is also expanding its expertise in various product areas: Thanks to the addition of production facilities built in accordance with BRC standards and the associated modern machinery consisting of 3-, 5- and 7-layer systems, the extrusion film specialist can now also offer its customers in the industrial and food packaging sectors a wide range of products. Wide and barrier films serve.

„We can now offer our 5-layer film solutions with a width of up to 3.3 metres,” explains Jens Kölble, Head of the Packaging & Performance Films division at Polifilm Extrusion. Kölble takes over the management of Saxa Packaging together with Polifilm Extrusion Managing Director Eckehard Betz. The Saxa site in Neukirchen, Saxony according to Betz, is to be integrated into the processes of Polifilm Extrusion as quickly as possible, while the existing 37 jobs are to be retained. The plan is to change the company's name to Polifilm Neukirchen.

Polifilm plans Capacity expansion

With Polifilm Neukirchen, the aim is to concentrate fully on Films with high functionality and thus expand the polyethylene and polypropylene film range with barrier effect. The plant in Saxony also offers space to expand the machinery and thus increase capacity. In the medium term, the plan is to increase the current capacity in Neukirchen of 12,000 tonnes per year. at least doubled is to be realised. The quality films will then be used to serve customers primarily on the German and European markets.
