Memjet presents a new direct-to-shape printer. The self-propelled printer is equipped with its own robot system and has a TrojanLabel printing unit that uses inkjet print head technology to print directly on three-dimensional containers, opening up new design possibilities for product labelling without the need for a separately applied label.
The LabelSaver was developed by OPM Europe in Tilburg, the Netherlands. The device is based on robotic elements and Memjet's VersaPass technology. The manufacturers describe it as a new solution for high-quality direct printing on all types of objects such as metal cans, plastic containers, bottles and canisters.
In view of the increase in product variants, the desire for personalisation and the growing demand for labels in small batches, smaller suppliers in particular need cost-effective ways to label their products. OPM Europa BV in Tilburg, the Netherlands, therefore developed a solution for OPM founder and European sales manager Dursun Acun that met all the requirements to make product labelling faster, cheaper, more environmentally friendly and label-free.

Robot technology in use
Firstly, he found it in the use of modern robot technology. Secondly, in addition to developing the robot system, Acun needed a suitable printing technology that could deliver the desired efficiency, cost-effectiveness and environmental balance. He chose TrojanLabel and the VersaPass printing technology from Memjet from among several manufacturers. The latter is the optimal choice for the LabelSaver thanks to its combination of innovation, speed, ease of use and affordability.
„VersaPass technology offers exactly the functionality we need to realise our vision of true label-free printing. Firstly, it enables high-quality four-colour printing with a single print head and secondly, the water-based inks can be used in a wide range of applications. This particularly applies to the food industry, which is an important growth market for us.“
Dursun Acun, Founder OPM Europe BV
The LabelSaver is designed for high-quality printing on a wide range of objects such as canisters, metal colour cans and plastic containers. It can print up to 500 canisters per hour in full colour in 360-degree mode around the object. It is also possible to print Memjet-suitable coatings for flexible packaging and films.
