KraussMaffei customers can now print customised packaging using the large-format powerPrint 3D printer. In addition to purchasing the printer, the company also offers a print on demand service.
The powerPrint large format printer opens up new fields of application for additive manufacturing. Since its launch at K2022, it has been successfully used for Various fibre-reinforced and compounded materials tested. The basis for the cost-effective production of 3D objects is the use of thermoplastics in granulate form and the extruder-based print build-up (nozzle range 2 to 20 mm).
KraussMaffei manufactures the systems for extrusion, injection moulding and reaction technology. The powerPrint offers a high output rate (up to 30 kg/h) combined with high product quality. The large format printer produces at a temperature of up to 350 °C independently and without manual intervention Components with dimensions of up to 2 m x 2.5 m x 2 m. They are removed from the front through a door or by crane via a folding roof of the heat-resistant enclosure. Print jobs can be changed quickly thanks to vacuum-fixed printing plates. A specially developed human-machine interface ensures intuitive and simple operation of the device. The intelligent machine design also ensures a high level of work safety.
Application for different industries
The powerPrint is suitable for all industries that large-format objects with consistently high product quality, such as tool and mould makers, packaging and logistics or the automotive industry. With the Print on Demand service, which KraussMaffei also offers in addition to purchasing, customers can test the possibilities. Applications are designed and then printed according to customer specifications and technical possibilities, with the company also taking care of post-processing.
