The Pro Carton Young Designers Award, Europe's leading annual competition for young packaging designers, received 461 entries - more than ever before in the competition's history.
In 2012, this was recognised by the European Association of the Cartonboard and Folding Carton Industry to recognise innovative applications of cartonboard and promote sustainability in the packaging industry. This year, students from 70 schools and universities in 24 countries submitted entries.
„We are delighted that the Pro Carton Young Designers Award has become such an important established competition for up-and-coming talent in the packaging industry. Incredibly, the number of entries has almost tripled since the competition was revamped in 2012. Brands need to find ways to package products, without harming the environment, and at the same time minimise the use of irreplaceable resources.
The use of Cardboard as a material supports a true circular economy as it is renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. It's great to see that so many young designers understand this idea and want to support our vision of cartons as the ultimate solution to avoid packaging waste.“
Tony Hitchin, Managing Director of Pro Carton
