Procyclen for sustainable packaging design
Procyclen is produced by the environmental services provider Interseroh in accordance with strict quality standards from plastic waste collected by the dual systems. According to the company, the caps do not come into contact with the product contents. According to scientific studies by the Fraunhofer Institute Umsicht, the use of the recycled plastic Procyclen saves 54 per cent of climate-damaging greenhouse gases compared to the use of virgin material.
„Cosnova is setting trends, including in sustainable packaging design. With the increased use of Recycled materials for our product packaging we want to contribute to the reduction of new plastic. A corresponding note on the nail polish caps is also intended to raise awareness of how important recycling is for environmental and climate protection.“ Axel Geiger, Executive Expert Purchase & Packaging at Cosnova
According to Interseroh, the use of Procyclen in decorative cosmetics is an important signal for the market, as there have been no clear legal standards for the use of PCR plastic in the cosmetics industry to date. The Cosnova packaging demonstrated what is technically possible.
Customised recyclates
Interseroh creates quality-assured Recyclates according to individual specifications. „The formula developed especially for Cosnova contains more than 94 per cent post-consumer material and was precisely tailored to customer requirements by adding a minimal amount of very finely combined special additives,“ explains Dr Manica Ulcnik-Krump, Head of the Recycled-Resource Business Unit at the Interseroh Dienstleistungs GmbH. „The recyclate therefore meets all quality expectations in terms of colour, mechanical resistance and stability in processing as well as material purity and therefore meets the high requirements of decorative cosmetics.“
