The nominees for the award Product innovation in glass 2020 have been decided. The winner in the category Crowd favourite will be determined by online voting for the first time this year.
For the industry award Product innovation in glass the nominees have been selected by the jury. The list for the „Small Companies” category includes the single malt whisky from St. Kilian Distillers GmbH, the KollektivTee product from KarmaKollektiv UG and the Schüttel-Limo from curameo AG. In the „Medium and large companies” category, the four experts selected Friedrichs Gin Liqueure from Schwarze und Schlichte GmbH & Co. KG, Pfandwerk from Alnatura Produktions- und Handels GmbH and WHYNE® from Lauffener Weingärtner eG as their favourites.
This year's winners in both categories have already been announced. Normally, however, these winners are not announced until the Glass trend day will be announced. In addition, the third prize winner, the Crowd favourite, then selected on site by the participants from the nominees.
This year is different due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year's Tredntag Glas is cancelled. The next event will not take place until September 2021. For this reason, the Voting for the public's favourite online for the first time instead.

Virtual voting takes place via the website of the Glass Packaging Action Forum. Voting is now open until 7 September 2020 possible. The winners for all three categories will be announced by mid-September at the latest.

These products were selected in the „small companies” category, which refers to companies with up to 50 employees.

From the jury's statement: „The ‚Single Malt Whisky‘ from St. Kilian Distillers GmbH stands out due to its Successful overall concept The design of the customised and
The beautifully shaped glass bottle is modelled on the original Scottish copper still in which the whisky is produced. The label design with high-quality, copper-coloured lettering rounds off the sophisticated design and also reflects the passion for the product.“

The jury's reasoning: „With ‚KollektivTee‘, KarmaKollektiv UG is bringing an innovative packaging concept to the tea shelf and is focussing entirely on Sustainability and social commitment. With its loose teas in classic reusable yoghurt jars, which are filled in cooperation with the Berlin workshops for people with disabilities, the start-up reinterprets classic tea through glass packaging and the reusable concept. And despite the limited design possibilities, it has created an attractive and absolutely harmonious product."

The jury's reasoning: „The ‚Schüttel-Limo‘ is a young and unique product. With its composition containing small pieces of ginger, curameo AG is providing variety in the lemonade segment and is presenting its new product in individually designed returnable glass bottles in matching colours to suit the target group. The interplay of content and packaging makes the product a real eye-catcher. Eye-catcher."
These products were nominated in the „Medium and large companies„ category, for companies with more than 50 employees.

The jury's reasoning: „The ‚Friedrichs Gin Liqueurs‘ in the flavours Grapefruit and Ginger show that a Well-known spirit redefined can be realised. Schwarze und Schlichte GmbH & Co. KG continues to develop the gin trend with its liqueurs, bringing a fresh product creation to the market - combined with a harmonious and appealing packaging design. The design and bottle shape with high-quality printing round off this special innovation.“

The jury's statement: „With ‚Whyne®‘, Lauffener Weingärtner eG is developing a genuine innovation. The idea of maturing wine in oak barrels that were previously used to produce spirits is a novelty for this product segment. The new wine speciality is translated into a visually appealing and high-quality bottle. Glass bottle that stands out from a classic wine bottle thanks to its wide, rounded shape."

The jury's reasoning: „With ‚Pfandwerk‘, Alnatura is presenting itself as a major retailer with a new reusable concept outside of the familiar food and beverage segments. The idea of continuing the sustainability strategy with its own brand and numerous products that are not yet available to buy in classic reusable glass packaging shows courage and a spirit of innovation. The holistic concept, The idea of combining different products in glass under this roof is convincing.“
