The jury's statements on the award winners

In 2022, the jury once again gave detailed reasons for its decision in favour of the product innovators. „With the flower confetti trio, Tante Fine GmbH demonstrates a creative flair for appealing and sustainable products. The harmonious packaging in the delicate glass bottle emphasises the quality of the contents and protects the aroma-sensitive dried flowers from external influences. The natural paper label and the simple screw cap round off the positive overall impression of the handmade organic product perfectly. As a bonus, the contents and packaging are so decorative together that they are too good to be hidden away in the kitchen cupboard.“ The jury had the following to say about the flavoursome Kühne „Pure“ gherkins from Carl Kühne KG (GmbH & Co.): „The Kühne “Pure" gherkins have reinvented the gherkin. With a new clean and modern design the glass appeals to a much younger target group. The somewhat dusty image of the cocktail gherkin has been cleared up at first glance. The straight-lined glass stands out clearly from the usual packaging in this segment. The deep-drawn silver screw cap harmonises with the cylindrical shape of the glass. Particularly the transparent label with modern typography contributes to the successful designIt makes the contents appear particularly flavoursome.“

The „classic in glass“

A special highlight of the award ceremony was the presentation of the special „Classic in Glass“ prize, which on the occasion of the International Year of Glass 2022 was brought to life. The „classic in a jar“ was awarded to a product that has become an integral part of everyday life. The winner was Maggi Seasoning, 125g from Nestlé Deutschland AG. The jury's reasoning: „Over 130 years ago, the Swiss Julius Maggi invented a product that was to conquer the world. The distinctive seasoning sauce that bears his name is internationally known and loved not only for its flavour, but also for the iconic shape of its packaging. The characteristic design of Maggi seasoning has changed only slightly since its market launch in 1887. The angular amber glass bottle with the slim neck symbolises continuity like few everyday products - and a pleasing immunity to the whims of the zeitgeist. Most of us have known it since childhood, and it is not surprising that the sight of the bottle is associated with memories and small events. So it is clearly predestined to be our „Classic in Glass“ in the International Year of Glass.“
