Progroup appoints Dr Thorben Finken as new CFO

He will take over the position from Dr Volker Metz in mid-October.

Progroup AG has appointed Dr Thorben Finken to the Management Board with effect from 1 October 2025. He will take over the position of Chief Financial Officer in mid-October from Dr Volker Metz, who is leaving at the end of the year.

Dr Thorben Finken will join the Management Board of Progroup AG on 1 October 2025 and assume the role of Chief Financial Officer on 15 October. He succeeds Dr Volker Metz, who is leaving the company at the end of the year.

CEO Maximilian Heindl paid tribute to the achievements of Dr Metz, who had played a key role in shaping Progroup's financial strategy over the years. At the same time, he emphasised the importance of the appointment of Dr Finken, whom he described as an internationally experienced financial expert with a deep understanding of the market.

Experience and perspective

Dr Finken has more than 25 years of experience in financial management, strategic corporate development and transformation. Following his time at McKinsey & Comp., he worked at The Linde Group for over 15 years, including as CFO for the UK and Africa. He later took on management roles at Olympus Europe, most recently as COO Europe, as well as the position of Group CFO at the Prym Group.

Tasks at Progroup

Together with his fellow board members Vinzenz Heindl (CSO), Beate Flamm (CCO) and Dr Marc Sesterhenn (COO), Finken will help shape the future direction of Progroup. With regard to the challenges ahead, he explained that in a demanding economic environment, forward-looking financial management is crucial in addition to consistent cost controlling. With its strategic approach, Progroup offers a strong basis for this, which he intends to expand further.
