Progroup is planning to build a corrugated board format plant in Rhineland-Palatinate. The plant is expected to produce up to 500 million square metres of corrugated board formats per year from the second quarter of 2023.
Around 60 new jobs are to be created in the 28,000 square metre plant. The company is investing more than 90 million euros in the new building and is thus continuing its growth strategy.
The production facility is being built directly next to the plant of packaging manufacturer G&G Preißer. The interlinking of logistics and production processes is seen as having great potential to operate even more sustainably and efficiently.
Thanks to the cooperation between the two companies, a new packaging park is being created on the site, in which the neighbouring packaging manufacturer will be supplied just-in-time with corrugated board from Progroup via a direct connection.
The new PW15 plant will produce almost all common types of corrugated board. The planned production speed is 400 m/min with a working width of 3.35 metres. Among other things, the production line is designed to produce single and double-wall Next Board corrugated board formats with B, C, E and F flutes and lower grammages in all combinations.
With PW15, Progroup is not only strengthening its Palatinate location, but is also expanding its market position in northern France and southern Germany. Overall, the company plans to double in size by 2025 compared to 2015. The current growth projects: By 2024, four large plants are set to go into operation in Poland, Germany, France and Italy, further driving Progroup's growth in the respective markets.
