Progroup strengthens its packaging park in Schüttorf with Akarton as a new partner.

The packaging industry is under constant pressure to work more efficiently and sustainably. One answer to this is the packaging park concept, in which the production of corrugated board formats and their further processing are brought together at one location. Progroup is consistently pursuing this strategy and is now strengthening the Schüttorf site with Akarton GmbH as a new partner.

Advantages of the integrated packaging park

The close cooperation with Akarton GmbH completes the value chain at the Schüttorf site. The direct connection between the PW05 corrugator and the neighbouring hall used by Akarton ensures a stable supply of high-quality corrugated board formats and enables fast further processing, according to the company from Landau in der Pfalz. This leads to greater delivery reliability and a reduced product carbon footprint. The short distances between production and further processing also reduce logistics costs, as there is no need for lorry transport between the manufacturer and processor.

Focus on efficiency and sustainability

The principle of co-location, which Progroup pursues at several locations in Europe, has proven itself in practice. The integration of production and finishing processes at one location increases flexibility in production and boosts competitiveness. Customers benefit from faster and more efficient processing of their orders, while the environmental impact is minimised at the same time due to the lower transport costs, according to the statement.
