The world's leading trade fair for environmental technology, „IFAT 2018“, has ended in Munich with record numbers of exhibitors and visitors. Messe München counted 3,305 exhibitors from 58 countries and more than 141,000 visitors.
According to the trade fair balance sheet, the number of exhibitors increased by seven per cent. The Visitor numbers were four per cent higher, than at IFAT 2016, when 136,885 visitors were registered. In the opinion of Messe München, the New hall layout according to the trade fair themes „Water/Wastewater“ and „Waste/Secondary Raw Materials“.
Stefan Rummel, Managing Director of Messe München, emphasised the increased importance of the event at the end of the trade fair on 18 May 2018: „IFAT presents Future technologies for a clean environment and is driving social discourse more actively than ever before.“

An optimistic industry presented itself at the five-day trade fair. Among other things, this was due to the Growing consumer awareness for environmental issues and their Demands for sustainability. At the same time, the manufacturing industry at IFAT has shown increasing interest in Resource-saving and efficient processes shown.
Environment Minister saw many innovative environmental technologies
Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze visited the trade fair and made a special point: „We need to make better use of resources, recycle plastics and other materials more effectively and prevent plastic waste from entering our environment. We need to avoid unnecessary plastic.“ At IFAT there are many Innovative environmental technologies that could help to solve the problems.
As at other industry trade fairs, the topic of „Digitisation“. The exhibits included digitally networked pumps, waste bins with sensors and autonomous road sweepers.
