At Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Barcelona, Henkel Adhesive Technologies will be demonstrating how companies can use modern adhesive technologies to fulfil the requirements of the EU packaging regulation PPWR. In focus: recyclability and CO2-reduction.

Among other things, Henkel will be presenting its recyclable PSA adhesives (Pressure Sensitive Adhesives) at the trade fair. Developed to make labelling applications more recyclable, these products help companies to meet the requirements of the PPWR today. These include, among others Wash-off adhesives for PET bottles, that can be removed without leaving any residue at low temperatures - including the Aquence PS 3017 RE adhesive, which won the FINAT Sustainability Award 2024. In addition repulpable adhesives for paper labels which dissolve completely in the recycling process.

Henkel also contributes its expertise from the Henkel Packaging Recyclab which is part of the Henkel Inspiration Centre Düsseldorf (ICD). In the in-house test centre, packaging designs can be tested under realistic conditions and evaluated in accordance with applicable guidelines. In this way, Henkel not only helps its partners to fulfil regulatory requirements such as the PPWR, but also to packaging holistically and sustainably from the outset.

Save energy, increase performance: technologies for CO₂ reduction

Henkel also presents solutions for CO₂ reduction: Specially developed PSA adhesive solutions are ideal for linerless labelling applications. As they do not require a liner, they reduce the amount of material used and increase process efficiency in label printing. In addition, UV-curing PSA adhesives impress with their high level of energy efficiency as well as their Resistance to heat, chemicals and weathering. Due to these properties, they are used for particularly demanding labelling and tape applications, for example in the medical sector or the graphics industry.

„The coming years will bring far-reaching changes for the labelling and packaging industry. If you want to remain competitive, you have to think about sustainability, performance and regulation together and tackle the challenges together with partners from the industry. Our adhesive and coating technologies lay the foundation for this - from design for recycling to reliable implementation.“
