Procter & Gamble (P&G) wants to develop a bio-based and fully recyclable paper bottle together with Paboco, a manufacturer of paper bottles.
The development of the paper bottle remains a hot topic in the industry: after Unilever announced in June 2021 the Prototype of the first detergent bottle made of paper Procter & Gamble has now announced the launch of a project for recyclable paper bottles. Together with the paper bottle specialist Paboco, with whom Procter & Gamble has already Coca-Cola works togetherUnilever wants to create a Develop 100 per cent bio-based and recyclable paper bottle and then use them on a large scale. With its technology for paper bottles, Paboco aims to reduce the CO2 footprint compared to conventional plastic packaging.
More sustainability on the corporate agenda
At P&G Fabric & Home Care with brands such as Ariel, Lenor and Fairy is already working specifically to reduce the amount of plastic in its packaging. The new collaboration with Paboco is therefore seen as an important milestone on the way to more innovative, more sustainable forms of packaging.

As part of the corporate strategy Ambition 2030 P&G is aiming to reduce the use of virgin plastics by 50 per cent by 2030. The European laundry care division has also committed to reducing the use of plastics by 30 per cent by 2025 and exclusively 100 per cent recyclable packaging by 2022 to develop. According to the company, both measures are making good progress. The cleaning products division has also committed to no longer using virgin plastic by 2025 at the latest.
