Constantia Flexibles has received RecyClass Technology Approval for the recyclability of its Perpetua mono-polypropylene (PP) laminate, which was specially developed for the pharmaceutical industry.
Perpetua, a laminate with a BOPP/metBOPP/cPP structure, was by RecyClass in co-operation with Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE) extensively tested. The tests confirmed the high recyclability of the material. In addition to its recyclability, Perpetua also offers good protection against moisture, oxygen and light. It is said to reduce the global warming potential by 48 to 55 per cent compared to similar multi-material laminates.
In addition, Perpetua Alta was recently awarded the RecyClass compatibility certificate for Design for Recycling in class B after it had already received Technology Approval in 2022.
„We are very proud to have received the Technology Approval for Perpetua and the recently awarded Compatibility Certificate for Perpetua Alta. This recognition confirms our leading position in the development of mono PP laminates. We are well prepared to meet future requirements as the PP recycling stream in Europe continues to evolve.“ Dr Roberto Martin, Head of Innovation Laminates at Constantia Flexibles.
The RecyClass authorisation sets a new benchmark for recyclable packaging materials and opens up new opportunities for brands to find more sustainable solutions, that meet the highest standards.
