By the end of 2021, all conventional shampoo and conditioner bottles are now to be Fully recyclable and reduce the use of new plastic by 50 per cent compared to 2016. The company aims to save 300 million new plastic bottles in Europe every year from 2021.

Refill system for shampoos: Refill the Good

With the Refill-the-Good refill system, the shampoo bottle consists of 100 percent aluminium with an integrated pump dispenser. The recyclable refill pack contains 60 per cent less plastic than the standard shampoo bottle (per ml compared to the standard shampoo bottle). By using the refillable bottles over the long term, the consumer can actively contribute to reducing the number of new plastic bottles produced.

„Our aim is to both reduce plastic and to create a Long-lasting option that are safe to use in the bathroom. Aluminium combines all these attributes: It is durable, does not rust and is recyclable. In addition, it is safe to use in the bathroom as it is stable and not fragile like glass. Our refill packs are made from mono-PE material and are recyclable.“ Jürgen Dornheim, Director of Sustainable Packaging and Innovation at Procter & Gamble
