Dresden Packaging Conference: Focus on PPWR and the future of materials

The German Packaging Institute e. V. (dvi) invites you to the 35th Dresden Packaging Conference in the Saxon state capital on 4 and 5 December 2025. This year, the focus will be on PPWR, Green Deal and the individual packaging materials. Special conditions for early bookers apply until 15 October.

In five thematic blocks, the conference will discuss practical ways to Implementation of the PPWR, examines how ESG requirements can be turned into competitive advantages and takes a look at the The future of plastic, alternative fibres, glass and reusable materials.

"From 2026, the new European Packaging Ordinance (PPWR) will gradually become mandatory. At the Dresden Packaging Conference, we therefore want to provide an update and find answers to some key questions: What requirements are already in place for 2026? How can the industry meet the challenges with concrete solutions? Where is new value creation potential emerging? And how can Germany and Austria play a pioneering role as a technology centre?“

Legislators are increasingly demanding more recyclate use and higher recyclate utilisation rates. But is there even enough material? Who gets the contract for it? Is a recyclate gap slowing down innovation and compliance? What is the situation regarding chemical recycling and plastics disposal as a whole? The conference sheds light on the facts, challenges and possible solutions from different perspectives. In addition, specific cases will be used to discuss the possibilities and opportunities that alternative fibres have and could have.

Young talent, network, evening event

Part of the tried-and-tested Dresden mix in 2025 is once again the presence of numerous students from packaging-related degree programmes from Germany and Austria. In this way, the dvi aims to provide young students with valuable contacts for building up their own network at an early stage and to give the company representatives present the unique opportunity to get to know the specialists of tomorrow at a very early stage and to interest them.

The industry's class reunion will take place on 4 and 5 December in Dresden. The dvi is offering early bookers a 20 per cent discount until 15 October.
