Change of name at Westfalia

Westfalia is now Westfalia Technologies GmbH & Co. KG. The intralogistics expert focusses on automated storage systems and conveyor technology.

Westfalia is now Westfalia Technologies GmbH & Co. KG. The intralogistics expert changed its name at the beginning of April, thereby placing a stronger focus on automated storage systems and conveyor technology.

By changing its name, the company is honouring its more than 50-year history, in which it has evolved from a pure Conveyor technology manufacturer to a provider of complete, turnkey automated storage systems and highly specialised storage technologies developed. And consistently expanded its product and service portfolio in the process. However, the traditional East Westphalian company has always remained true to one thing: its location in Germany and its focus on all key technologies from a single source. In this respect, in the words of Andreas Gartemann, Managing Partner, the new company name also somewhat describes the "way back to the future".

"We want to take advantage of the move and use the new company name to sharpen our identity as a specialised and sustainable intralogistics automation provider for SMEs and large companies. We will of course continue to offer this in the form of intralogistics services for our technologies and systems with our proven service. However, Westfalia has consistently developed into a genuine technology company - starting with the development of in-house software expertise with now more than 40 in-house software developers and the integration of our own control system construction in 2019. With the change of name, we are also strengthening the global Westfalia brand together with our US sister company Westfalia Technologies, Inc."

With further locations in Switzerland, which are now also being reorganised with immediate effect under Westfalia Technologies Switzerland AG, and Denmark as well as the technology-orientated companies Westfalia Terra Automation GmbH & Co. KG, G+W Steuerungsanlagenbau GmbH and Logentis GmbH, Westfalia Technologies GmbH & Co. KG serves the European market as a service, project and manufacturing company. The Westfalia Group has more than 500 customers worldwide, some of them long-standing.

Today the Group offers Automated warehouse technology and automated conveyor technology from our own production, including control systems, IT infrastructure and our own software for warehouse management and warehouse control - the Savanna.NET warehouse execution system. The portfolio also includes modernisation, testing, training and comprehensive system support for in-house and third-party systems with 24/7 support over the entire system lifetime.

From the initial consultation to the design, realisation and commissioning through to system support, the East Westphalian intralogistics specialist bundles the Spectrum of warehouse logistics automation with a focus on multi-deep compact warehouses. One of its most important key technologies from its own production is the Satellite load handling device. In 1983, it revolutionised the possibilities of automatic compact storage and has now established itself as a sustainable technology in the food, beverage, packaging and corrugated cardboard industries, among others.

"With the new company location in the IBV, we want to significantly expand our possibilities once again by doubling our production and testing capacity and logistically optimising production with a faster connection to the A33 motorway. The sustainability of our warehouse technology will also be reflected in production: With air heat pump heating and our own energy production via 1,400 photovoltaic modules, we want to save at least 285 tonnes of CO2-emissions can be saved."
