Together with its Austrian customer Berglandmilch, Greiner Packaging has developed a reusable lid for yoghurt pots.
They extend the shelf life of food, stop the absorption of odours and ensure that the product stays where it belongs: plastic lids that carefully reseal opened yoghurt pots. The only problem: Once the cup is empty, the lids end up in the bin.
The new The snap-on lid has been used for the Schärdinger, Tirol Milch and Stainzer brands since April. The lid, which is manufactured using injection moulding, is dishwasher-safe and with a diameter of 95 millimetres, fits the most common yoghurt pots. Thanks to its reusability, the lid helps to save plastic, while at the same time the cup can be optimally closed and contributes to a longer food shelf life of the filled product.
Customised complete solution
With the production of the reusable lid, Greiner Packaging offers its customers a Complete solution - Cups and lids can be produced together in a precisely coordinated manner.
„Environmentally conscious and yet practical - with the reusable lid, we can offer consumers A sustainable solution that convinces on several levels. Verena Sallinger, Product Manager of Berglandmilch.
Working together towards a circular economy
The reusable lid is also in line with Greiner Packaging's understanding of sustainability - the company is committed to a circular economy in which the plastic material should be kept in circulation for as long as possible. Should the lid actually have to be disposed of one day, Ideally, it is recycled and fed into new plastic products in reprocessed form.
