The RKW Group has expanded its RKW Horizon product portfolio to include MDO PE films with an integrated EVOH barrier. These new films are designed to enable recycling-friendly single-material solutions for a wide range of packaging formats while also fulfilling high functionality and sustainability requirements, according to the Mannheim-based company.
With the latest addition to its Horizon portfolio, the RKW Group says it is setting new standards in sustainable packaging solutions. The new MDO PE films with EVOH barrier make it possible to integrate barrier properties directly into the printing substrate - without additional layers. In combination with suitable PE sealing films, this results in unmixed packaging that is fully recyclable.
Sustainable packaging solutions for a wide range of applications
The new films are suitable for numerous packaging formats such as stand-up pouches, gusseted pouches and pillow bags as well as lidding and peel films. They are used for packaging coffee, confectionery, frozen products and cleaning agents, among other things. The range of applications extends from food to non-food products.
Response to market requirements and regulations
According to RKW, the company is also responding to the increasing demands of consumers and legislators with this development. In Europe, for example, the Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is known to be a new regulation that requires recycling-friendly solutions.
