Robotic solutions for the food industry

In the food industry, ultra-fast robots in wash-down hygienic design with the lowest possible particle emissions are in demand. Stäubli will be presenting solutions for primary and secondary packaging at interpack.

With customised solutions for primary and secondary packaging, Stäubli provides a possible answer to the special challenges of the food industry. Ultra-fast robots in wash-down hygienic design with the lowest possible particle emissions are in demand.

At the same time, the machines must not cause any contamination of the food, which is possible without restricting the dynamic values. the use of food-grade lubricants class NSF H1 conditional.

The HE series demonstrates how the manufacturer's robots fulfil this requirement profile. HE stands for Humid Environment and characterises all robots that are specially modified for use with liquids. Blasting with hot water, foaming with cleaning chemicals and manual brushing are also no problem. All HE robots are fully encapsulated and, when using a pressurised unit, are designed with IP67 protection. The wrist of the machine is watertight.

What Stäubli robots in practice, the manufacturer proves with a realistic demo cell in which four and six-axle vehicles work hand in hand. In the process cell, a compact TX2-60 six-axis robot performs cutting processes for portioning meat and cheese products. The compact robot emphasises its performance in both ultrasonic and water jet cutting.

Directly afterwards an ultra-fast TS2-60 SCARA is used for the primary packaging of the food. What catches the eye here is the impressive dynamics that the four-axis HE robot demonstrates despite the use of food-grade oil.
