Former Vice President Roland Straßburger is the new President of the Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen. He succeeds Roland Roth, who held the office for eight years.
Strasbourg has been CEO of the Contactor GmbH & Co. KGaA. Mr Straßburger has been a member of the IK Board since 2009 as a representative of the IBC specialist group. The new chairman wants to improve the public perception of Plastic especially its contribution to climate protection and resource conservation.
„While the often emotional discussions surrounding Plastic packaging to the undoubtedly important issue of marine litter,
we want to give the actual function of plastic packaging more space again,“ says Straßburger about the challenges in the association's work.
He identified the following topics as important fields of action for the plastics packaging industry Sustainability and recycling. These are of particular importance against the background of the EU plastics strategy and the German Packaging Act.
At the same time, Straßburger wants to focus on the Competitiveness industry, which is characterised by medium-sized companies.
