Material changeover at Rossmann: In future, the drugstore chain will use 100 percent recycled aluminium instead of primary aluminium for its own-brand Isana deodorant sprays.
A total of twelve Isana deodorant sprays made from 100 percent recycled aluminium have been successively launched on the market since the end of last year and are recognisable to consumers by the recyclate seal. The changeover, which affects the can without the spray head, is intended to Rossmann expand the range of sustainable product alternatives.
Rossmann focusses on resource conservation
According to the company, CO₂ comparative balances and laboratory analyses have shown that the use of 100 per cent recycled aluminium per year for Isana Soft Blossom Deo 150 millilitre save approx. 130 tonnes of CO2 aluminium. This corresponds to a percentage CO2 saving of approx. 50 percent compared to the Isana Soft Blossom Deo 150ml made from 100 percent primary aluminium. Projections for all women's deodorants also show an annual saving of approx. 1000 tonnes of CO2, as less energy is required in the recycling process than in the primary production of aluminium. The aerosol cans with the lower-emission CO2 footprint come from the recyclable material cycle and can find their way back there via the Yellow Bag/Yellow Bin.
"Sustainable product responsibility is an important strategic pillar for our Rossmann brands. Together with and for our customers, we as a retail company create a diverse, environmentally friendly range of products. We are continuously working on making our products, including their packaging, even more sustainable. With the Isana deodorant sprays, we have taken an important step towards a circular economy and CO2 savings,“ says Raoul Rossmann, Managing Director.
