BITO-Lagertechnik is expanding its successful MB series, which has been on the market for 25 years this year, to include a container specially designed for the food e-commerce sector. The MB Food & Delivery will be available from January 2020 and has already been honoured with the „pro-K award 2020“ in November.
The continuous growth in the Food e-commerce poses many challenges for suppliers in the e-food industry and poses the question: How do I transport the goods to the consumer fresh, safe and at the perfect temperature - and if possible without producing more packaging waste?

Avoiding plastic waste as far as possible - whether in the outer packaging or when carrying purchases - is becoming more and more of a priority. Reusable, sturdy carrying and transport aids are therefore more in demand than ever - among consumers and, of course, among online retailers, who are looking for the best possible solutions.
The successful MB reusable container series from BITO-Lagertechnik Bittmann GmbH provides an answer to this. And now, above all, the new MB Food & Delivery, a variant specially developed for the food e-commerce sector in container size 600 x 400 x 373 mm, plus corresponding equipment options.

What exactly is important to customers - and therefore also to end customers?
The goods must reach the consumer undamaged. Freshness and quality assurance are one of the top priorities - maintaining the cold chain from leaving the store or warehouse to delivery is essential. In addition, the goods must be stable and Well protected during transport be minimised. In addition, the number of containers required per delivery should be minimised and the storage space for empty containers should remain small.
„It's not just space-saving, nestable containers that are required. Customers need a complete system. It is important that as many different foods just as space-saving to be transported. The new container height, for example, arose from the fact that 1.5 litre bottles often have to be transported upright. This was a requirement that we were repeatedly asked to fulfil.

As goods are usually delivered in different packaging and different sizes, it is important to ensure that nothing falls over, breaks or leaks. The quality of the goods during transport and delivery must not be compromised under any circumstances - this is the top priority. Optional with many features especially for e-food retail
Many optional features make the MB Food & Delivery an ideal e-food system. For example: Divider inserts to ensure that nothing slips, tips over or leaks and that bottles or cups are kept securely in place. Or Insulation inserts made of EPP for various dry or refrigerated areas, such as for fresh and dairy products or frozen foods.
The insulating inserts are currently available in two module sizes. This makes it possible to combine two different temperature ranges in one container at the same time. The matching Cold packs made from „phase-change“ materials (PCM) also have a sub-divider function. The deep-freeze battery for temperatures down to -21°C is also a safe, cost-effective and, above all, reusable alternative to dry ice.
If required, the container can also be fitted with hanging options for bags. This facilitates order picking or handover to the end customer and also secures transport. For better transport protection, lids and seals are available as a secure closure option.
The new container in the MB series is available with smooth and with permeable walls. The permeable walls ensure that the refrigeration reaches the goods via the appropriate transport vehicles or storage rooms. This also reduces the container's own weight, making it easier to carry the food inside. A special detail here is the Cutlery pattern design of the walls.
