The Spanish Saica Group has celebrated the ground-breaking ceremony for its second US plant in the state of Indiana. A state-of-the-art corrugated packaging plant with over 100 new jobs will be built in Anderson by the end of 2026.
The Saica Group, one of Europe's largest manufacturers of recycled paper and corrugated packaging, is expanding its North American business with an investment of more than 110 million US dollars. The new building in Anderson complements the existing plant in Hamilton, Ohio, and is scheduled to start production in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Saica CEO Susana Alejandro explained that the commitment underlines the long-term growth strategy in the USA: „We are convinced that our experience in the production of lighter, high-performance packaging will give new impetus to the US market.“
The plant is being built on an area of around 350,000 square feet and will produce over 1.2 million MSF corrugated board packaging units per year. A rail connection will optimise paper transport. The production facility includes manufacturing, processing, storage and administration and will also serve as a backup location for Hamilton.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) is supporting the project with up to USD 2 million in tax-based investment incentives as well as additional funding for training and infrastructure. The new plant is part of Saica's expansion programme to invest around USD 800 million in the US market over the coming years.
