The Saica Group is expanding its recycling network in Spain and taking over parts of FCC Ámbito's business. Through its subsidiary Saica Natur, the Group is strengthening the recovery of paper and corrugated cardboard in several regions of the Iberian Peninsula in particular.
The Saica Group has acquired the paper and corrugated cardboard recovery business of FCC Ámbito, a subsidiary of FCC Enviro. The transaction expands Saica's presence in Spain, particularly in the regions of Madrid and the north and west of the country. The acquisition was made via Saica Natur, the Group's waste management and environmental services division. The acquired activities focus on the recycling of paper, cardboard and other non-hazardous industrial and commercial waste.
Seven locations and 33 million euros in sales
As part of the takeover, the facilities of the former FCC-Ámbito business in Madrid, Cáceres, Valladolid, Asturias, Vizcaya, León and Toledo will be transferred to Saica. More than 150 people are employed at these seven locations. The turnover of the acquired units totalled around 33 million euros in 2024.
Saica Natur grows to 47 locations
Following completion of the takeover, Saica Natur will operate a total of 47 plants. Of these, 36 are located in Spain, with further sites in France, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Poland. The number of employees in this business unit will increase to more than 1,700.
The Saica Group is active in the fields of recycled paper, corrugated packaging, flexible packaging and waste management. The Group employs over 12,000 people worldwide and generated consolidated sales of 3.7 billion euros at the end of the 2024 financial year.
