Back in December, Saier Verpackungstechnik received the German Sustainability Award in the packaging category for its S-Liner Peel. The product enables the clean reuse of buckets.
With around 1,000 competition entries in eight different categories, around 2,000 participants in the closing events and numerous prominent supporters from politics, business, media, art and culture from all over the world the German Sustainability Award is Europe's largest honour for social and ecological commitment. The Managing Partner, Hanns-Ulrich Saier, accepted the prestigious award.
Product in the sense of the circular economy
With the help of the S-Liner Peel inliner, which can be removed from the inside of the bucket by hand, residues from the filling material can be easily and quickly removed on site without additional aids, together with the inliner, and disposed of properly. The expert jury of the German Sustainability Award assessed the following aspects the possibility of clean reuse of buckets and the significant saving of drinking water This is extremely positive for the cleaning of the container in conjunction with the avoidance of wastewater pollution caused by washed-out building materials.
On the other hand, the recyclability of buckets in a clean condition must be emphasised, as the quality and purity of the recyclates is of paramount importance for recyclability. For example, product residues can disrupt the recycling process and reduce the quality of the secondary raw materials. This leads to so-called downcycling, in which recyclates can only be used for limited areas of application that are inferior in terms of raw material quality. Therefore, in the interests of a genuine circular economy, packaging material should be as pure as possible and not contaminated with product residues. With the S-Liner Peel, Saier Verpackungstechnik has developed a product that fulfils these requirements.
The S-Liner Peel has already been honoured with the German Packaging Award 2021 in the „Sustainability“ category and the international WorldStar Global Packaging Award 2022 in the „Packaging Materials and Components“ category, the German Sustainability Award in the packaging category once again impressively emphasises the sustainability potential of the development.
