Bio-SamPak is a new compostable packaging film for sausage and cheese which, according to the manufacturer, offers the same hygiene and shelf life standards as plastic.

The Klagenfurt-based company S.A.M. Kuchler Electronics GmbH has developed innovative packaging for sausage and cheese. The compostable film is manufactured made from renewable cellulose, the main component of plant cell walls. Bio-SamPak is biodegradable and may even go into the garden compost. The raw material wood comes from certified forestry with sustainable forest management. The new film therefore also for a sustainable circular economy with.

Bio-SamPak can be printed in the same way as conventional plastic film and offers Oxygen and fat barriers and flavour protection. According to the manufacturer, the contents of the pack stay fresh for longer thanks to breathable multi-chambers, and the customer can open the cold cuts in portions.
