With its wet adhesive strips in the non-reinforced version, Schümann will be presenting a tried and tested solution for the dust-tight and tamper-proof sealing of corrugated and solid board cartons at the upcoming Fachpack.
As these parcel tapes are made entirely from natural and recyclable raw materials (paper, potato starch), they also score highly as particularly environmentally friendly packaging material. During application, the wet adhesive strips form a material-technical unit with the cardboard packaging and thus contribute to the practical realisation of sustainable supply chains.
The main area of application for unreinforced wet adhesive strips from Schümann is that Sealing of parcels and packages with unit weights of up to 12 kilograms. The dimensions of the cardboard boxes play a rather subordinate role in their use. As the length of the sealing tapes running from the roll can always be cut precisely to size, they can be used for both small and large or even very large packages. For small and medium-sized packs, they are primarily applied using manual dispensers or semi-automatic dispensing systems - also part of the Schümann portfolio - and in large-scale packaging logistics in fully automated continuous flow systems.
Wet adhesive strips offer protection against tampering
The adhesive effect of the wet adhesive strips from Schümann is based on a coating applied to the underside, thin coating of potato starch glue. Immediately before application, it is activated in the dispenser or dispensing system by wetting it sparingly with water. Once applied and briefly wiped off, the adhesive layer bonds firmly to the surface of the cardboard and can then only be removed destructively - this is the basis for the adhesive's adhesive strength. The high tamper protection of the wet adhesive rolls von Schümann: Any attempt to remove the sealing strip leaves clearly visible traces and the broken cardboard packaging can be ejected from the supply chain.
Unlike plastic tapes, wet adhesive tapes cannot be outwitted by thermal tricks. Manufacturers and distributors of medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and hygiene products are not the only ones to appreciate this seal-like property of the wet adhesive tapesIt is also an advantage when shipping particularly valuable products, components or documents.
The wet adhesive tapes can be further enhanced and provided with additional functions by the printing of coloured texts and logos or identification codes on their visible upper side. Schümann's print service can meet almost any colour requirement, so that the closure strips can also be visually matched to company and product colours or industry-specific colour schemes. Only water-soluble colours are used for printing.
